From a personal perspective, I know that co-working days are going to be my most productive because of the accountability of having someone who sees my to-do list and knows how much I accomplished during our co-working time. Even though accountability is not something we focus on, it is still a motivating factor because I don't want to be the only one who didn't accomplish her goals.
Co-working is essentially time blocking...on steroids!
If you've read any of my previous blogs on time management, you know I'm a huge fan of time blocking. It's something I do daily to keep myself on task and to ensure I'm getting everything done.
If you're not familiar, time blocking is a time management technique that involves dividing your day into specific blocks dedicated to individual tasks or activities. This method enhances focus and productivity by reducing distractions and providing a clear structure for your schedule. By prioritizing tasks and visually mapping them out, you can manage your time more effectively and stay organized.
Co-working is the next level of time blocking!
During co-working days, I come prepared with a to-do list of tasks ready to be knocked out. I bring everything I need to focus for 4-6 hours without long breaks. I know that my assignment is to complete as many items as possible, so I find a flow state quicker and move between tasks with more ease and fluidity.
As with all things, you get out what you put it, but so far, my co-working buddies and I have both found it to be especially effective in helping us stay on top of our workloads.
Does connection really matter when you're working?
Yes! As with a "normal' job, it matters who your co-workers are. A negative or lazy co-worker can ruin your experience and hinder your productivity. The ability to choose a friend to work with makes the entire experience seem fun and exciting, even if the work is the same.
